COP14 Programme
UNFCCC - the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is one of the largest international treaties. The Conference of the Parties (COP) is the highest decision-making authority of the Convention. Its sessions take place once a year to specify rules for UNFCCC implementation.
Parties to the Convention, observer States and observer organizations participate in sessions of the COP. These participants come from over 190 countries.
The conference includes not only official plenary sessions and meetings, but also side events and exhibits aimed at raising awareness about problems related to global climate change. Non-governmental organisations, with thousands of representatives at the conference, are especially active in this area.
